The Green Dragon

The “Green Dragon”. She is an ex-Volvo Ocean Race yacht, designed and built by a leading racing yacht shipyard, Mc Conaghy Boats. It was built for 2008-09 campaign, she was skippered by Ian Walker, winner of the Volvo Ocean Race 2011. After some years of “retirement” and event-type of sailing, she was brought back to her primary life – sea racing by the current owner and skipper, Johannes. “Green Dragon” represents the 2nd generation of Volvo Open 70, improved and faster compared to her predecessors. The yacht has a canting keel, driven by a hydraulic machinery, allowing to pivot the underwater ballast up to 40 degrees for increased stability and speed.
